Just wanted to remind folks that I will be playing in Sheffield in a couple of weeks at the rather marvellous venue of Samuel Worth Chapel. It’s a great venue and recently saw Jim Ghedi and Toby Hay play there at the end of last year. As soon as stepped into the venue I was blown away, and thought “oh, I’d really like to play here”. So dug out my debut CD and scribbled my name and mobile number on it – pushing into the organiser’s hands with the edict “just listen to the last track”. Look I’m honest, “This time the darkness wins” is probably the best song I’ve written, and I’m if honest with myself I suspect I won’t better it.

But anyway, faint heart and all that – some egregious self-promotion is part and parcel of finding gigs – although I try not to make the promoter nervous by breaching the restraining order and camping outside their home. I didn’t think I would be regarded as “folk enough” for the Chapel. I’ve been going through a transition into folk which is following the 10-step programme (1. write a song about a bird(s), 2. write a song about a selkie, 3. write a song about your home town – so I have another 7 steps in the programme – but I look forward to receiving my little certificate of authenticity by the end of this year).

Anyway, (digress as ever) – so it was with bursting pride when I got an email asking me to play alongside none other than Alastair Gordon (http://alastairgordon-music.com) & super-talented Charlotte Ridsdale (http://charlotteridsdale.bandcamp.com/community).

I mean like real musicians!

My only goal is not to disgrace myself and hopefully pass myself off as a real musician too!

Who knows maybe this will lead to more gigs and support work.

So please, please, please – book a ticket and come along:
